The Art of Living
Book launch – King’s College Chapel
I was invited to make a performance for the launch of Dominic Johnson’s book, a collection of interviews with a variety of artists involved in performance art. I made an action, simultaneously destroying and liberating the book, as I ripped arbitrary pages out, singing out their contents, making the book light enough to launch up on helium filled balloons, to be received by the angelic chorus on the ceiling and to subsequently slowly, during the socialising, to descend once more to earth. Rod Melvin accompanied me on piano, improvising with my voice, filling the chapel as the book ascended.
