Eclipse

Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition – 2006/07

I make drawings from many processes often as part of performance including ‘capturing’ shadows on paper. Eclipse was made over the course of one year, as part of REAP 2004/5, following the shadow cast by a small globe of the world with each month’s shadow traced in a different colour.

Eclipse was shown as part of You’ll Never Know: Drawing and Random Interference a Hayward Touring Exhibition which was shown at the Hayward Gallery, London; Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston; Glynn Vivian Gallery, Swansea; The Lowry, Salford; New Art Gallery, Walsall and Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle.

“…her work has responded to the everyday metamorphoses of natural phenomena – the weathering of stone, the melting of ice, the sudden shifts of shadows and sunlight… a willingness to embrace the random interference of chance in all its forms is an extension of her belief that the artist can never be in full control of their work, since time is an inescapable collaborator in all art and life.”
