Conversation between 1973 & 2015 – Performance/ lecture LADA

Restock, Rethink, Reflect 3 focused on feminism and aimed to map and mark the impact of performance on feminist histories and the contribution of artists to discourses around contemporary gender politics, including long-table exchanges.

I was invited to take part in Are We There Yet?  an event to mark the launch of a Study Room Guide on Live Art and Feminism at LADA. I had a conversation with ‘my younger self’ on attitudes to feminism. I had recently, as part of Matts Gallery 35th anniversary, performed ‘Wild Thing” in duet with myself on film from 1973 and subsequently at a Steakhouse event, both of which stimulated this conversation.

I also took part in another event in this series at Chelsea Theatre about ‘artists who embody the lived realities of feminist histories and whose work continues to contribute to discourses around gender politics. Old Dears featuresd performances, screenings, and debates with artists including Liz Aggiss, Penny Arcade Rocio Boliver, Marcia Farquhar, Anne Bean, Claire MacDonald, Liz Aggiss, Judith Knight, Geraldine Pilgrim, Nikki Milican, and Lois Weaver. ‘
