Disorder

Disorders vol.3
In 1979, in my studio at Butlers Wharf (a few minutes’ walk from Tanner St) I performed a durational work. It was part of an evening of many artists’ works that I often put on, as invited events, in my studio. I wet my hair and whirled my head continuously back and forwards, so that both the words and my face were blurred, until my hair dried, saying continuously, as a mantra, ‘Closer to Now, Closer to Death.’ 40 years later, 2019, in a space that is geographically close, on an evening with a similar spirit to the Butler’s Wharf events of mostly much younger artists experimenting with live works, I worked with the ethos of that performance and with prints from transparencies of the original performance.
