Reflect

Lumiere Festival, Durham

I wanted this work to capture the nuances of the word ‘reflect,’ so that the act of one’s own contemplation is as intrinsic to the work as its manifestation

Reflect, reflected in the River Wear, responded to wind and rain, tide and current, so that the word itself was sensitive to the planetary and cosmic forces that acted upon it. Its location, outside the weir, in the stiller waters, emphasised the drama, speed, turbulence and powerful sound that this man-made intervention creates
