Chana and Maambo
Part 1 of the Chana Dubinski trilogy
For nearly a year I have been having regular zoom conversations with the Zambian artist, Serah Chibombwe. After about six months we planned that instead of our usual spoken exchange of ideas, we would do some sessions as a recorded performance together in order to open a permissive space in which to explore more freely and expansively our fears and dreams. We both have vivid childhood memories and alternative names with which we identified as children, Chana and Maambo. We decided to speak to each other from these childhood selves and see what unfolded from this space. Although we did not discuss it in advance there were several coincidences in what came up between us. We each brought materials and ideas to the session to stimulate our relationship and visions in this childhood exploration. The organisation Future’s Venture funded the edit of these sessions.
